My home is large and perfect for creating a family environment for overseas guests. We are situated a short walk from the shops, library and the beach front – you can hear the sea at high tide and wake up to the smell of ocean spray. The famous “penguin beach”, Boulders, is only a short drive away, and we are close to a number of nature reserves and hiking trails.
Our home here is shared with two Mainecoon cats. They are a large, docile breed, who spend most of their day in the enclosed courtyard, or sleeping on my bed. We have a very large garden in the front of the house, perfect for outdoor games, or enjoying lunch or dinner on a picnic blanket. I have two large rooms available, with wi-fi and all the comforts you need to feel right at home.
What they can offer you
Denise is a warm, friendly lady with a wealth of private tutoring experience. She has previously run a home schooling facility for, amongst others, children with ADD. She has her own fully equipped classroom, able to teach up to 4 students at a time and comfortable bedrooms.
Denise has two adult children, both with their own families; She now shares her home with 2 huge Maine Coon cats, a ‘normal’ cat and a mixed breed dog, all of which are very sociable characters.
Her home is a corner property with larger than usual garden for the area – Denise has green fingers so gardening is a special love. The interior is retained in a traditional way which complements the original sprung timber flooring and large high-ceilinged rooms. It is furnished and decorated comfortably with some rather special pieces. There is one bathroom with over-bath shower and separate toilet.
Denise has a CELTA teaching Qualification as well as a recognised State Teachers Degree.
Denise is as a practical, empathetic person with a ‘motherly’ streak which would include keeping a caring watch on the activities of teens in her care. She expresses no particular preference as to age or gender of her pupils but her qualifications means she is able to teach, with ease, Learners; Intermediate students and Higher English participants. Children and adults will equally enjoy their stay with Denise.

Swimming at Fish Hoek Beach
People come from miles around to swim at this beach. Not only is it sandy with “ high rollers” ( waves!) but it is one of the warmer Beaches in the Cape. A lot of beaches in South Africa are beautiful but with very cold water due to the colder waters coming up from the Antarctic. Luckily, Fish Hoek misses this.
Penguins at Boulders Beach
No visit is complete to this area without a visit to Boulders Beach to see the Penguins, up close! You can see them wandering around the Beaches and in the foliage. If you come when they are breeding, be sure to watch them and their babies taking their first steps in the sea
No visit is complete to Cape Town without a stop off at Table Mountain. It’s a beautiful, but short, ride in the Cable Car to the top. Once there you can view the whole of Cape Town or walk across the top. Home to many different and specific species of plants and flowers. On a clear day you can definitely see for miles.

I had a wonderful time because I had many good friends from many countries here. I was able to learn about each of their countries, their culture and their thinking. They always study hard for their purpose and dream.Maki Shimamura
Before the pre-sessional course I only had English classes in my school in Brazil and also I made a few short trips abroad in countries like Ireland and the US. Therefore, I knew how to speak English, but I never had experienced a long time learning academic English as I did with South African Homesatys.Gilmar Mantovani de Andrade
